Living Waters Lutheran Church
An Oasis of Prayer, Belonging and Service.

As you prepare for your wedding and your married life, we at Living Waters offer you our congratulations and prayers.

A Christian wedding is a worship service in which the couple and their families have invited their guests to join them in asking for God's blessing on this marriage.  Everything in the service is focused on nurturing our life in Christ:  people, music, text, vows., etc.

It is not good for the man to be alone.  I will make a suitable helper for him . . . for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

All weddings at Living Waters are sacred worship services.  With the understanding of the holiness of this ceremony, we want to acquaint you with some of the primary guidelines of Living Waters before you decide to reserve the church.

The pastor of Living Waters will meet with the couple beforehand.  After an initial meeting to decide if we should move forward, the couple will then seek premarital counseling.

Premarital counseling of at least six hours is required for any wedding at Living Waters.  These sessions may occur at the church, under the guidance of the pastor, or the couple may elect to attend an intensive premarital weekend offered by another member of the clergy.  We have a few to recommend. Also, in the case of a couple living at a distance, another approved clergy member may conduct the sessions if necessary.

Because the marriage service is a worship service, music is to be chosen with care and discrimination.  The texts and the music should contribute to the worship atmosphere of the service.

Preparing For Your Wedding

Additional Information

All musical selections must be approved by the musician and the officiating pastor.

At every wedding, the pastor of Living Waters will be the officiating minister.  Other clergy may be invited, at the discretion of the pastor, to participate in the service.

Photographs are best taken before the ceremony.  Picture taking and videotaping during the service are allowed only if done without flash and from the rear of the sanctuary, in such a way that this will not detract from the worship of the service.

No alcohol or illegal drug use will be permitted on the property.  If there is evidence of abuse of alcohol or drugs before, during, or after the rehearsal or the wedding, individuals will not be allowed to participate in the wedding service.
